You are a superb drummer
Wow! You are fantastic! That was damned near perfect!!!
where do you get the drumless track for this?
Thanks for watching Aaron. You can make a drumless track using lalal.ai
This is awesome mate! Looking forward to getting behind the kit to try this out
Undoubtedly my favorite drummer of all time. As a teenager, I would run upstairs in our regular café on the weekends to ask the DJ to play this song, only to go completely wild a little later to Terry's amazing drumming and, of course, the entire song.
Nice! Great lesson my friend!
💯% spot on 🥁
Thanks for watching David.
Unbelievable
Great phantastic great 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
Many many thanks
Ralph! This is soooo good! Thank you, Aubrey! Great job!
Thanks for watching!
Sorry but that’s Greek
you make that look like walking in the park!!
Really enjoying working with this system, but there's a part of the second line I just can't quite get. How do notes connected by a tie work? I've listened back to that section of the video, but I'm not getting it yet.
HEY AUBREY ARE YOU BASED IN NEW YORK CITY JUST WONDERING ABOUT IN PERSON DRUM LESSONS
Hi Larry, I did live in the NUC area for 11 years but now I live in The Toronto area. I do offer Zoom lessons if that can work for you. If so reach out to me at myid@myidmusic.com. Thanks!😊
OMG!!😳 To actually see and hear this amazingly complex music transcribed, totally BLOWS MY MIND!🎵🎶🤗
Thanks Robert and thanks for watching. You can check out more transcriptions in my new book on Narada Michael Walden that comes out tomorrow. Here's the link: hudsonmusic.com/product/narada-michael-walden-drumming-spirit-and-music/?wcacra=2605529
Great job. That is one of Reverend Al’s best performances ever and you nailed it solid.
I definitely agree! Thanks for watching.
Great playing, Aubrey! Brings me back to that era, so fun. Neil & Geddy, talk about a great feel and groove!
Thanks brother. they were quite the dou!
I love playing Beck, and really got into watching you. Great job.
Thanks! I Hope you can pick up the book. And thanks for watching!
Congratulations and thank you. This is a long time coming.
Led Boots!!! Excellent!
Everything about this is just fantastic! First of all, it's great to see you back Aubrey. And on top of that you're bringing us the kind of book that people like me are just thrilled to find out exists. Sincere congratulations and thank you for covering this fascinating artist in such a fitting manner. Bravo to you and to Hudson Music!
Thanks Tom! Working with Narada was definitely a highlight in my life. I hope you enjoy the book!
@@AubreyDrumLessons Count on it my friend!
Outstanding! what a great tune!
So great to see you back! Wonderful playing as always!
Nice work! I believe Alex was definitely influenced by Ginger Baker. Alex could obviously swing with the best, but he could also jazz it up like Ginger Baker with his Air Force project. No surprise since Alex and Eddie’s dad was a big band musician. They grew up around all that swing, syncopation, jazz etc.
Awesome, we’ll done !
Thank you so much giving time to the late, great Ralph Humphrey. I was a big fan of his with the Don Ellis Orchestra, and saw him with that group, where he was paired with Ron Dunn, and sometimes with Ellis himself. He was an amazing talent
Thanks Aubrey.
Nice work, and when the music teacher plays something and makes it look easy, you gotta know ITS REALLY DIFFICULT! your videos are top shelf, thank you.
Thanks for the kind words Jeff. Yup this one definitely is a but kicker! Lol! 🎉Thanks for watching!
Nice drumming! That song is quite challenging on any instrument, Van Halen was always ahead of their time, and thank you for the video.
awesome
Thanks! Wow... Alex V... what an underrated drummer!!
Very helpfully, thanks so much
Please fix your volume Also you mispronounce Peart
Totally great video!!! Fiery drumming...Thank you Aubrey!!!
Thanks Jeffrey!

Hell yeah dude. Fuckin RIPPIN
Thanks for watching!
Love it!!!!! Bravo❤
Thanks for watching!
Hey Aubrey! Many years ago we spoke on Facebook about our organ transplant experiences. We both received a kidney in the past. And we both play drums. lol. I hope you are well. My apologies for losing contact. I gave up on Facebook and most of the other social media platforms. Anyhow, just wanted to say cheers. And thank you for the musical inspiration. Love ya, friend. 👋🏽
Hi Stephan! Thanks for reaching out. It’s been a great 11 years free of kidney drama. Unfortunately my wife’s kidney is starting to get tuckered out. It’s holding steady for now but the function is only 14%. In the mean time I’m going to keep doing what I do as much as possible. Also, look out for a book I wrote call “Narada Michael Walden drumming, spirit, and music” it should come out in about month of Hudson Music publishing. Take care brother!
For me this song always started here. 3:58.
Yup that’s when the band really starts digging in!
Awesome
I don’t think there are any ghost notes
Oh my goodness! I've had that album for years, that intro was beautiful! Quintessential Vinnie. It's amazing you can decipher this stuff! I'm trying to get my act together to study! I need to so badly!
Go for it! I’m still learning myself. Thanks for watching!
That was LIT! Liked & sub'd 🤙
Bravo!!!
I think that ride kick break is one of the greatest drum breaks in rock history. He's doing his business the entire song with a quite dense approach with all these fills and up-beats and suddenly... tink boom. hahaha it's just so insanely sparse and creates such a contrast and when I was hearing this for the first time at age 18, I just thought it was great. That was a great play-along you did. I think drummers respect Alex but I think maybe he just didn't socialize and do lesson vids and play sessions and stuff like the more famous drummers. You know like Porcaro and Gadd and Bozzio and just on and on. Maybe he did get more credit than I remember but I just have this sense he was not seen as this amazing drummer. I think he was (as if he's dead) really really good and just didn't get out and hobnob. I think his personality didn't help him along those lines. Prob felt he had Ed and Van Halen and that was enough for him. I'm just guessing.
You could be right about Alex regarding his PR. Plus, his brother was such a virtuoso! Thanks for watching!
@@AubreyDrumLessons yeah, it is always the total combination of things that makes something what it is. A cake isn't just an egg or a chunk of butter, it's all the ingredients combined. Great vid you did with the bio elements and breaking down each section. I don't play drums but I understood pretty much all of it. That 6 thing on the snare... that's probably the sickest lick in the whole thing. besides the ting boom. hahahh
Great stuff but, hard for me to compartmentalize without the accompanying melody and chordal changes. Especially because so much of Vinnie's playing doesn't mirror the rhythmic pattern of the melodic material he's playing. I'm sure some people love him for that. For me, although I respect him highly, I don't prefer his approach to phrasing. But, thank you for sharing this.
It is true that Vinnie can overplay at times, but his virtuosity is always notable. Thanks for watching!
This is a great breakdown, Aubrey! I hope you don't mind if I throw my two cents in.... When playing groupings of three triplets, Philly Joe generally used the sticking RLL RLR RLL So, the last three triplets in the phrase at 9:28, and all the stuff at 11:55 would have been with that sticking. I wrote a blog post about it if you're interested: thatdrumblog.blogspot.com/2022/11/philly-joe-jones-three-beat-triplet.html
Flawless!
WOW
Thanks for watching!
This dudes legit! Great Job man!! 🔥🔥🔥
